Publication Ethics
The Jurnal Teknik Industri Riset dan Aplikasi (JTIRA) is a scientific publication featuring original, previously unpublished research in the fields of Industrial Engineering and related applications. This statement of ethics is based on the Regulation of the Head of LIPI No. 5 of 2014 regarding the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication. The code of ethics serves as a standard for authors, encompassing:
- Morality: The ability to distinguish between good and bad conduct in writing.
- Scientific Integrity: Upholding scientific principles, essence, and truth above all other interests.
- Neutrality: Remaining free from conflicts of interest in publication management.
- Justice: Attributing authorship only to those who have rightfully earned it.
- Honesty: Ensuring publications are free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief
- Determining the journal's name, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation status.
- Appointing the editorial board members.
- Defining the relationships between publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintaining confidentiality for contributors, authors, editors, and reviewers.
- Implementing norms regarding intellectual property rights, specifically copyright.
- Reviewing journal policies and communicating them to all stakeholders.
- Establishing codes of conduct for editors and reviewers.
- Ensuring the regular publication of the journal.
- Securing financial resources for the journal’s sustainability.
- Developing collaboration networks and marketing strategies.
- Continuously improving the journal's quality.
- Managing licensing and other legal aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
- Providing constructive feedback to ensure the author's message is clearly conveyed.
- Ensuring language used adheres to formal standards (EBI for Indonesian or standardized English).
- Striving for continuous improvement in publication quality.
- Upholding objective freedom of expression.
- Issuing corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary.
- Ensuring content is free from sensitive issues (SARA) or content harmful to the publisher, and coordinating controversial pieces with the Editor-in-Chief.
- Reviewing and following up on complaints from all parties.
- Supporting initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics.
- Avoiding subjective bias to ensure objective decision-making.
- Encouraging authors to revise manuscripts until they meet publication standards.
- Managing article layouts in accordance with the journal template.
- Assisting the Editor-in-Chief in finalizing article collections prior to publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers
- Providing objective, unbiased written feedback regarding the scientific merit and contribution of the article.
- Assessing the clarity, completeness, and relevance of the manuscript within the journal's scope.
- Refraining from personal criticism or comments.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the manuscript and its contents.
Author Ethics
Authors submitting to the Jurnal Teknik Industri Riset dan Aplikasi (JTIRA) must adhere to the following:
- Upholding scientific conduct and understanding the benefits and risks of the published work.
- Ensuring the manuscript is free from misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism/auto-plagiarism.
- Providing adequate citations for all statements, ideas, or data that are not the result of their own research.
- Ensuring the article does not cause conflict or public unrest.
- Ensuring all listed authors have made significant contributions to the work.
- Avoiding double manuscript submission (submitting to multiple journals simultaneously).
- Guaranteeing that no part of the article has been previously published elsewhere.
- Confirming that the article is an original result of the author's research or conceptual thought.
